Houston Texans Unveiling 25th Patch for 2026 Season

The Houston Texans will carry a piece of franchise history on their sleeves this season — literally.

During the team’s media day, the Texans revealed a commemorative patch that will appear on their uniforms throughout the 2026 campaign, marking 25 years since the franchise first took the field. C.J. Stroud was among the first to be seen wearing it, the patch visible on his left shoulder in footage circulated on the team’s social media channels. The design features the number 25 set against a silhouette of the state of Texas.

A Subtle Touch, Not a Full Redesign

Beyond the patch, the Texans’ uniforms remain unchanged from what the team has worn over the past two seasons. That is largely by design — NFL rules prohibit franchises from conducting a full uniform overhaul within a five-year window, so a complete home-and-away redesign remains some time away for Houston.

The anniversary patch is the fourth of its kind in the franchise’s history. The Texans first wore a commemorative patch during their inaugural 2002 season to mark their debut in the league. A decade later, a 10th anniversary patch appeared on their jerseys in 2012. Between 2018 and 2019, the team wore a memorial patch honoring late franchise founder Bob McNair following his death in November 2018.

Context and Timing

The Texans remain the NFL’s newest franchise, but 25 years have produced a meaningful collection of moments, players, and milestones that the organization clearly wants to acknowledge. The patch is a small but fitting nod to that history.

The timing also carries some weight. Houston enters the 2026 season having won three consecutive playoff games across back-to-back postseason appearances, with a roster that was further strengthened during the offseason. The expectation of contending for a first-ever Super Bowl appearance — and breaking through to an AFC Championship game that has remained elusive throughout the franchise’s existence — makes this anniversary season feel like more than a ceremonial occasion.

As additional media day content becomes available, a closer look at the full uniform presentation will likely follow. For now, the patch is the headline — a small addition that carries a 25-year story behind it.
